Receipts before rhetoric

Source Standards

How They Keep You Broke chooses, links, dates, and qualifies sources for financial-system investigations.

Primary sources come first: laws and regulations, agency guidance, official forms, public datasets, contracts, disclosures, court records, and direct company materials.

Source order

  1. Primary government, legal, contractual, or company records.
  2. Original research with visible methods and limitations.
  3. Credible reporting that points back to evidence.
  4. Personal stories used as leads or illustrations, not universal proof.

What a link means

A source link supports a specific factual starting point. It does not make every conclusion on the page the source's conclusion. Our interpretation is labeled through context and caveats.

Current information

Rates, deadlines, eligibility, laws, policies, and product terms change. Pages direct readers to current official sources when the live rule matters. The date at the bottom records the last editorial review, not a promise that every external page remains unchanged.
